Teton Communications Inc is a progressive 2-Way radio company in Idaho Falls, Idaho. One of the core tenants of their business is the Law and Fire Departments they support. The 700 MHz P25 systems in operation cover 5 Counties, have 23 Tower Locations and use 103 repeaters.

The system was initially installed with a product from Genesis (Genwatch) that provided limited status and reporting abilities - [Tony Hafla] President and Owner of Teton Communications, based in Idaho Falls, United States.

The Problem

‍

Teton had struggled to provide some of the reports / statistics the users needed to manage their radio fleets as well as the means to monitor (real time and historical) use of the system for troubleshooting. They undertook a system upgrade and were searching for suitable real-time monitoring solutions as well.

Recently, when we were updating the system repeaters, we became aware of the VUpt product and contacted Interactive Group, who were generous enough to let us run a 'Trial' of VUpt - [Tony Hafla].

The Solution

Teton implemented the VUpt solution from Interactive Group including the latest Forensic Analytics and Operational Assets management capability.

‍

We were so impressed that we moved at full speed with the implementation. Not only did VUpt allow for real time (and historical) monitoring of the system operation (essential for troubleshooting), but we were also able to produce reports detailing the information our customers were requesting for the management of their radio fleets.

As a bonus, the software also supports integrated SNMP polling via VUpt 'Operational Asset' Management and alarm notifications that provide 'instant' notifications of system issues – before the customer even knows they exist - [Tony Hafla]

Going Forward

Teton is now engaged in a long term collaborative relationship with Interactive Group and assists with real world application and enhancement of the solutions.
